Amy C. Walters

Amy Walters is a native of Columbus, Georgia, graduating from Columbus High School in 1997. She attended Columbus State University, obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education in 2001, before attending Loyola University School of Law, New Orleans, where she obtained her Juris Doctorate Degree. While attending Loyola, Ms. Walters served as the Articles Editor of the Loyola Journal of Public Interest Law and graduated with an International Legal Studies Certificate.  After graduating with her law degree in 2004, Ms. Walters spent a year clerking for Judge Douglas C. Pullen, Superior Court Judge, Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit. Ms. Walters joined the firm of Berry, Shelnutt, Day & Hoffman in 2005, practicing criminal defense law, before moving to Harp & Associates in 2007 to focus on family law. In 2009, she joined criminal defense attorneys Richard Hagler and Stacey Jackson and formed Hagler, Jackson & Walters. Her primary practice areas since then have related to family law, including divorce and custody. Ms. Walters is also a Guardian ad Litem and has served in that capacity in the Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit for over a decade. As a court appointed Guardian ad Litem, she performs custody investigations, focusing on the best interests of children in contested matters. In late 2022, Ms. Walters opened her own law firm, Law Office of Amy C. Walters, and continues to practice primarily in the area of family law. 

 

Ms. Walters was elected as a representative to the State Bar of Georgia Board of Governors in 2016, on which she continues to serve. She previously served on the Board of Directors for the Georgia Young Lawyers, the Board President for the Columbus Young Lawyers Division, President of the Columbus Chapter of Georgia Association of Women Lawyers, and has been a member of the Columbus American Inn of Court since 2012. Ms. Walters has coached a local high school mock trial team and serves on the board of the Youth Orchestra of Greater Columbus, including three years as Board President. She is a supporter of local arts and often works with the theatre program at Northside High School. She is a die-hard Georgia Bulldogs fan and can be found watching SEC football every Saturday in the fall.
